We left Kas early morning and had a cracking sail to Finike. We made a slight detour to have a look at the Kekova Roads inlet for our trip back. We were greeted by the marina manager with a red carnation for the ladies and a huge bag of oranges for the men? Unfortunately the rain arrived late afternoon although it didn’t seem to dampen crew spirits, particularly at the cocktail party held at a local hotel.
The following day it was still raining so we decided to forego the trip and spent the day relaxing aboard. Helen joined a couple of the other ladies for an interesting Hammam (Turkish Bath and massage). On arrival they were told to take their shoes off and put on the blue plastic slip on shoes provided and place theirs in the shoe lockers. They were given Turkish towels to wrap around and strip down to bikini bottoms. Back downstairs they were guided through a door into a huge circular hot room (similar to a sauna heat) with a circular marble hot table in the centre. Around the edge of the room were marble sinks and ladles and they sat and doused themselves with warm water and then sat on the hot circular table. Unfortunately, it was a mixed Turkish bath which made it a little uncomfortable to begin with as there were two men already in the room. In turn the ladies laid on a marble slab and a little Turkish man with exfoliator mittens on (bit like the scouring pads you use to wash up with) rubbed them all over, then on to the next slab where another little Turkish man with what looked like a pillowcase filled with soap suds covered them from head to toe in soap suds and then massaged them all over! Next was the hair wash and rinse down with clear water. A real Turkish experience but not quite what Helen was expecting!
The following morning was another early start for our sail to Kemur.
