With the end of our contract looming, we spent our last full week with our good friends Jon and Beth, from the UK. Although the weather wasn’t particularly good (hotter in the UK), we still managed to have a great time. Probably the best thing about their trip was all of the goodies they brought out with them – Gin, Bacardi, tea-bags, migraine pills, blood pressure monitor, water purifier and of course the all important Harveys Bristol Cream to keep the captain happy!
The St George’s Day dinner at the marina restaurant was a particular highlight, especially as we were joined by our eldest son, Matt, who had recently flown in from a year working as a dog sled guide in Whistler, Canada.
Matt looked as if he had spent the last year living rough on the mountain so Mum decided a good haircut and shave were in order! Justin was also persuaded to have a haircut and nose, ear and face wax! Now that really did hurt! The fire in the ears was the last straw – you can smell your hair burning… what an experience and for both of us the cost was less than Helen pays for a cut and blow dry at Sarah Hodge’s in Taunton!
